Robert Stein [Mudgee NSW], Half-Dry Riesling 2019

Jacob Stein and team have again delivered a solid multi-awarded Riesling from the Mudgee [NSW] region...2 Gold Medals and 2 Trophies including Champion Wine of Show, Mudgee Wine Show 2019
Jacob continues the Stein tradition and pedigree, as his ancestor Johann Stein has anecdotally brought Riesling vines on Governor Macarthur's odyssey. As well, Jacob's grandfather, Robert Stein, is known for re-establishing, post-phylloxera in the Mudgee region in 1976.
This 2019 Half-Dry Riesling , hand-picked earlyish with fermentation stopped to retain freshness and residual sweetness, is vibrant, crisp and redolent of lime / lemon blossoms both on the nose and palate.
The fresh natural acid admirably camouflages the palate-pleasing 15 grams of residual sugar. Wafts of whole-bunch pressed fruit tantalisingly peek through the primary fruit and acid veil.
It is a well-massaged, refreshing young Riesling which teases as well as satisfies the taste buds.
My sample was enjoyed with a plate of freshly-shucked South Coast oysters.. very moreish
